EasyFuel – GPS Odometer Sender

The EasyFuel unit is an independent GPS Odometer Sender (GOS) used in conjunction with a Vehicle Identification Device (VID) to measure distance traveled independently of the vehicle. The EasyFuel unit has a pre-set pulse per kilometer value eliminating the need for calibration at the time of installation or re-calibration thereafter.

With no connection to the vehicle other than to power, therefore vehicle guarantees and warranties are unaffected by the use of EasyFuel.

The EasyFuel GPS odometer sender unit is used with one of the following EasyFuel Antennas:

  • Uniform solution for all vehicle models

OBD vs EasyFuel-derived Odometer Values

OTI’s EasyFuel approach has numerous benefits, compared to connecting directly to the vehicle OBD.

  • VID with OBD interface, besides having a price premium, requires permanent interface with vehicle OBD plug, which may result in warranty issues.
  • This plug must be removed at time of vehicle servicing – and there is no guarantee it will be re-inserted on completion.
  • In consumer vehicles, the OBD plug is often alongside the steering column, which can be very unsightly if the OBD plug is permanently connected.
  • VID with OBD interface provides vehicle-generated odometer value – value influenced by vehicle parameters and road conditions. May introduce consumption error by up to 3% when compared to EasyFuel generated odometer values.
  • Lack of industry standards. There are two types of vehicle OBD outputs. Those that provide odometer reading and those that provide a pulse output. High maintenance to ensure conformity between vehicle and VID odometer values.
